We See What We Want to See

We see what we WANT to see

Funny how we may see a red car and it consumes our interest. So much so that we start noticing more and more red cars. Even when we aren’t consciously looking. It’s almost as if there were no red cars in our life and then, BAM, red cars are everywhere!

We manifest what (we) want to manifest.

If you think that people are generally stupid and callous, then you will see MORE of that in the world. What you think is true will resonate with you and skew your world view. It is distorted. It is deceptive. How much are you in control of your own perspective? If you were to consciously think that most people are good and that the "bad" ones are unconscious, would your life begin to look a lot different?

This sounds a lot like the whole "You are what you eat" motif that seems to permeate the active membrane of western civilization. We are constantly bombarded with images and advertisements trying to get us to buy their products. They cater to our insecurities and desires all by committee and design. A design that has seemed to work for awhile now. Classic manipulation with the flashy lights and exuberant bows. It's amazing to see people go about their lives not realizing that they are caught in their own conditioning and unawareness. Then again, there is way more that we do not know and that is devastatingly humbling and daunting at the same time.

If you are constantly surrounding yourself with bad news and bad people then guess what.. you are going to get more of the BAD! Most of the time ten fold. And you didn't think that it could get even worse. There's a point where we may enjoy the suffering that we are manifesting right before our eyes. A delicate dance with the pleasure and pain paradigm. Most of us do not see ourselves as negative or depressed, but the way we act would say otherwise.

Yes. That's it. We see what we want to see and we act it out. We are performative vessels of transitory moods and desires. If we want more of something we do a good job of standing in our own way. We then cast blame spells to the external forces around us. All by design. All to distract us from what is going on internally. Once we are aware of certain things, we cannot go back. When we see the inner workings of a machine we can not simply unlearn what we have seen unless we are sent into some debilitating coma or concussion. It is the understanding our of own actions, behaviors and hypocrisies that allow use to open up to our own potential. A potential for us to manifest the best for us and the others around us.

Many factors around us try to tell us what is real and what is the truth. They (people who have incentive to manipulate and control) play with us and our emotions. They jam narratives down our throats so that they can remain relevant. They want your reaction. They want your response. It keeps people that want to control the narrative alive. How are we letting people form the way the view the world around us? How much of us is trying to discover the world around us with curiosity and spontaneity? It's easy to follow narratives that are spoon fed to us. It makes sense in this complex world around us. What happens when we step away and look for the truth on our own terms? No analytics or definitions, but a playfulness to explore the illusions around us.

The key is not to blame or make excuses. The key means taking responsibility. Radical responsibility at that. Even if it stings and even if it means that you have to admit that you have been wrong then so be it. It is best to take responsibility in order to move forward. Once again, we can aim up or down in each fleeting moment.

If we see what we want to see, then we can act as if that is true. Of course there will always be tragedy if we look for the "good", but we can see them as a part of the whole. When we see something as bad happening to us, then we get caught in loop and a downfall. Pretty soon we are seeing more things as bad. It can spiral and it can spiral fast. Us seeing what we want to us to see is the same of what we are consciously looking for. If we are looking for a fight, then we will create one even if we aren't directly provoked. If we are looking to have a conversation we will find healthy dialogue even with those that we most vehemently disagree with.

This relates to that old adage of " If you are a hammer, you will see everything around you as a nail ". We see what we want to see based on the the Center of our Intention and Intuition. If we have the intention to bring about good then we will act as if we will bring about good even if what we are being told is objectively "tragic" or "bad". If you hold a cynical side eye view of the world then you will get more of that is. Wherever you start from is "What is" to you and whatever you continue with will just bring more of "What is". Most of the time we see what we want to see based on how aware we are in our internal dialogue and thinking. It appears that most people run on auto-pilot and get caught in the cyclical psychosis of thought. There is never a break in the chain.

Where is your center and how does it radiate outward?

If you are looking for destruction, you will find destruction.
If you are looking for positivity, you will find more positivity.
What direction are you aimed towards?

There seems to be a schism between what we think and how we act. We may be more divisive online, but more passive and introverted in the real world. It's easy to hide behind a screen and put up a front. Now we know that social media is manipulative by design then we can take a step back and see how it has conditioned us. How it conditioned our thoughts and behaviors. All illusions trying to get you to think in a certain way. A fallacious sense of belonging. A disregard for the humanity of your friends and neighbors.

If we see what we don't want to see then we can start to make the transition and do the work towards what we want to see. We may not all hold the same worldviews, but at the end of the day you can only take responsibility for how you react, respond and initiate action. It's a radical right to responsibility. A dedication and sacrifice towards one's autonomy. You only get mad because you let yourself get mad. Any time you react to a situation in a positive or negative way you are complicit in the action. A dancer in the madness. Excuses take us away from what is and thrust us in a realm of convolution and conflict. It's not about control or domination of our fleeting emotions, but an understanding and surrender that there is only so much that we can control. It is putting down the symbolic gun and listening to what is happening within us.

We will do what needs to be done when we can see what we want to see with intention and accountability.
