Why I started smiling more and why you should too.




When things aren't looking so good, you just gotta slap on a smile. It helps. It seems ridiculous I know, but have you ever tried to smile more and see what happens?

I have and I can say that it works. Smiling can liberate you from thinking you are feeling sad, angry or mad. When you smile, it is contagious. That is the cool thing. When people see you smile and it is not forced or fake, people smile back. How awesome and revolutionary.

It's just as simple as putting on a happy face. For each smile someone sees, you create an exponential reaction of more smiles. Lets say a smile makes someone's day. Then that person might be in a better mood and create a better day for the people around them. It's the icing on the cake. The cherry on top. All the small little details that one little smile can make!

Smiling makes you more inviting and more attractive to others. It broadcasts that you are brimming with positive energy. So aesthetically, smiling is a win win. It allows for you to appear more attractive to others and even yourself knowing that you are the one doing the magnificent act of smiling.

Smiling takes practice. If you are not use to it at first, you will have to be more conscious of your facial behavior. This raises awareness and allows you to be more in tune with your emotional regulation and control. See how negative emotion affects your face. It might wrinkle or tire out you with stress. Take a deep breath and relax. What happens? Most likely, you will naturally smile. The relaxing breath work triggers a joyful reaction. Within that joy of presence, comes a nice and welcoming smile. Smiling is a Practice!
